Bye Bye Pompidou
It’s closed for five years, but there are still ways to enjoy it
Some call it “the heart of Paris”, and we couldn’t agree more. After all, that’s where the story of Paris Arty began. The bookstore, which was a great place to work during our student days, witnessed the start of a long love story. With the museum, of course, but also quite literally: there was the beginning of a story that continues to this day, kids and all. That’s why we have a particularly soft spot for this place.
Opened in 1977, the Centre Pompidou was a true revolution that transformed the architectural and cultural landscape of Paris. The piazza in front of the main entrance has long been a meeting point for young people, tourists, and locals. Its colorful pipes brought a breath of modernity to the city’s gray skyline. Inside, its galleries have hosted some of the most remarkable exhibitions in the history of modern art.
But now… it’s closed! Beaubourg, as it’s affectionately known, has said goodbye to the Parisian scene for the next five years. But we’re not ready to let it go completely. In this edition, you’ll discover everything about its past, its present, and its future!
